Jesus saying “No man can serve 2 masters, he would hold on to one and despise the other “ (Matthew 6:24)
Paul told Timothy “Let no one despise you for your youth” (1 Timothy 4:12)
In both cases it would seem that the word despise was not just used to substitute hate in the original sense but there is also a contrast in their use in the 2 phrases .
In the first phrase, it was being implied that Jesus was not saying that one would hate the other master but would simply love them less and the word hate or despise used implied “love less”
Engage in a brief juxtaposition of the word "despise", using two biblical examples.
